2022 International Topical Conference on Advances in Optical Engineering

Dear Colleagues,

The field of optical engineering is developing rapidly worldwide. The related technologies have been applied in space exploration, Mars exploration,micro-nano devices and new materials development, biomedicine, quantum computerand quantum communication. In the “National Guideline on Medium and Long Term Program for Science and Technology Development (2006-2020)” of China, multiple priority areas and great demands mentioning Optical Engineering involving remote sensing, environmental monitoring, biomedical diagnosis, space exploration, astronomy, and other scientific areas. At present, the world’s largest radio telescope FAST (Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radioTelescope) has been put into use; Chang'e IV lunar probe has also launch torealized the lunar exploration on the back of the moon; Mars exploration programhas been formally established. These are the concrete embodiment of the rapid development of China’s photonics and optical engineering.

Indeed, there have been significant advances as well over the past years. There is an increasing number of Optical Engineering companies setting up or ramping uptheir manufacturing facilities here and at the same time some home grown companies are show-casing innovations and technologies.

In order to cater to these developments, many universities and scientific research institutionsin Xi’an, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Tianjin and other famous cities have established ‘Photonics Research Centre’. These institutions have organized many national academic conferences for deeper academic exchanges and scientific interactions, as well as to strengthen the cultivation of the excellent talent and finally to reach out to the younger generation and highlight them career and research options in optical engineering.

The 2022 first edition of the International Topical Conference on Advances in Optical Engineering (CAOE) will be held on October 22-23, 2022, Zhong Wei Goethe Hotel in Hangzhou, Hangzhou. In partnership with the the China University of Geosciences (CUG) and the Wuhan University, the purpose of this conference is to build the international communication platform for optical research, to aim at the opportunity of emerging markets and technology, to strengthen the advanced technology of optical application and measurement for innovation and development through a series of academic exchanges. This conference issignificant in promoting communication of the latest achievements, enhancing mutual understanding of the status and trend of development, and strengthening the international cooperation in the optical field. 

Furthermore, international experts at the very cutting edge of their disciplines will deliver keynote presentations on their latest research, experiences, future goals for engineering/environmental geophysics, and raising public awareness on the critical role of near- surface geophysics.

Plenary Speakers

Kaiming Bi

Curtin University, Australia

Dr. Kaiming Bi received his Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering in 2003 and Master degree in Bridge Engineering in 2006 from Central South University (CSU), China. He received his PhD of Structural Engineering from the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2011. He joined the School of Civil and Resource Engineering at UWA as a Lecturer after working as a Graduate Research Assistant in UWA for one year. Dr Bi moved to Curtin University in March 2014 and currently serves as an Associate Professor and ARC Future Fellow in the Centre for Infrastructure Monitoring and Protection (CIMP) in the School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. Dr Bi's research mainly focused on the Structural Dynamics and Structural Vibration Control. He generated 104 peer-reviewed papers in the well-known international journals and more than 60 peerreviewed conference papers. Dr Bi has won quite a few highly competitive research grants from Australian Research Council (ARC) and other funding sources, including the prestigious Future Fellowship and Discovery Early Career Award (DECRA). Dr Bi is an Early Career Board member of Engineering Structures. 

Prof. Wei Li

Research Center of Fluid Machinery, Jiangsu University

Dr. Wei Li has presided national projects over 6 items, including National Key Research and Development Program, and National Natural Science Foundation of China, He has presided provincial projects over 10 items, including Key Research and Development Project of Jiangsu Province. Further, He has presided 4 municipal level projects and more than 20 horizontal projects.  He has applied five international invention patents, got 34 national authorized invention patents and 6 software Copyrights. He has published more than 100 papers, which includes 45 SCI papers, 1 published book, and participated in the compilation and translation of 2 books. He is the deputy director of China National Research Center of Pumps, and the director of the Key Laboratory in Energy Saving Technology of Pump and System of China Oil and Chemical Industry. Member of China general machinery industry association pump standardization committee, vice secretary of drainage and irrigation machinery branch of China agricultural machinery institute, vice president of the national evaluation measurement test of flow meter alliance, secretary-general of advanced fluid engineering equipment industry technology innovation strategic alliance in jiangsu province, secretary-general of jiangsu power engineering and engineering thermal physics discipline in colleges and universities league.


Prof. Malcherek Andreas

head of the Hydraulic Engineering Institute at the University of the German Armed Forces München, Germany

Prof. Andreas Malcherek has got a degree in Physics at the University of Göttingen and a PhD Computational Fluid Dynamics in Coastal Engineering. At the present time he is professor and head of the Hydraulic Engineering Institute at the University of the German Armed Forces München. With his group Prof. Malcherek worked on laboratory, theoretical as well as computational projects in a broad range of fields like CFD, rheology of granular suspensions, thermal hydraulics for nuclear power plants, conventional small hydropower, water shed hydrology and coastal engineering. He wrote about 100 national and international publications including 3 German textbooks on theory of the tides, fluvial engineering and fundamentals of electrodynamics.  His university lectures are published (in German) on a YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCknYw-Vigwsngml-u-cMH4w).   


Best Student Presentation Award

Welcome to 2022 International Topical Conference on Advances in Optical Engineering

The CAOE organizes and sponsors the BEST STUDENT PRESENTATION COMPETITION at the CAOE 2022. This competition recognizes and encourages excellence in graduate and undergraduate studies in the field of optics and photonics. The awards of the first prize, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up of the competition will respectively be, USD500, USD300, and USD 200. The prizes and certificates will be presented at the conference banquet. Several Excellent Awards will also be selected.

In the competition, eligible applicants will present their work at a special oral session during the conference. The judging committee will make a decision based on the students’ presentations at the special session and responses to questions from the committee and audiences.

Eligibility

The nominee must be a full time student, including undergraduates and graduate students (Master or PhD candidates). Postdoctoral fellows or non-students are not eligible.

The student's area of research may either be theoretical or experimental in any of the general technical and scientific areas normally presented as part of the Conference.

The usual abstract review process applies and the submitted abstract must have been accepted for oral presentation by the Conference Program Committee and the applicant must present the work at the Conference.

Application Procedure

Submit an abstract to the Conference by 30 June 2022 according to the standard submission guidelines and deadlines as outlined under Abstract Submission to Email@cm.po

An abstract ID will be assigned to each successfully submitted abstract. For faster services, please quote your abstract ID in all correspondences. Note that you DO NOT have to identify the abstract explicitly as part of the student competition in the text of the abstract.

By 30 June 2022, submit in PDF Format the 2-page extended abstract of your presentation

Please state your abstract ID and include a short (around 500 words) explanation of their contribution to the work described and its significance (can include figures). 30 June 2022 is the submission deadline.
